Civic Pride is working hard in Rossendale

Civic Pride is a small charity made up of volunteers who love where they live and are committed to 'working for a cleaner, greener, safer place to live and work'.

As well as weekly litter picks around the Rossendale Valley, the group undertake larger projects on a monthly basis. In November this involved planting 500 trees, 420 of which were donated from the Woodland Trust, Jubilee Woods Prize. Over 30 volunteers from the local community gave up their Sunday to plant these and transform the derelict Retail Park.

Civic Pride is now looking forward to the Olympic Torch coming through the Rossendale Valley. The organisation will use a grant from the local council to fund a range of projects including providing new bins, garden competitions, flower baskets, beds and planters around the town.

The organisation has said:

"The coincidence of Keep Britain Tidy announcing their new initiative couldn't have been better timed and we are proud to be part of that initiative."

Love Where You Live would like to congratulate Civic Pride for their hard work and continued dedication to improving their local community!
